Våra barns klimat is a non-profit association that since 2019 has conducted national surveys in Sweden on how young people aged 12-18 see the future. In the fall of 2023, the latest survey was conducted, which is based on 1002 interviews.The Ung SciShop project asked 103 young people in Storkriket to answer the same questions to get an indication of the situation in the future Unesco biosphere area.
The survey Children and young people about the climate 2023 shows that 38 percent of Sweden's children and young people aged 12-18 feel hopeful about the future when it comes to solving the earth's climate problems in a good way. In 2020, it was 51 percent.
The percentage who answer that they feel they can help influence the climate and the future of the environment has decreased. In 2020 it was 65 percent and in 2023 it was 48 percent.
Children and young people rank the environment/climate as the third most important political issue, after law and order and education.
In Storkriket, 20 percent of young people answered that they feel very hopeful, or quite hopeful, about the future in terms of solving the earth's climate problems in a good way.
The percentage who answered that they feel they can help influence the future of the climate and the environment was 28 percent in Storkriket.
Environment/climate was ranked as the most important political issue.
